The 5th Grade Band has begun it's 2017-18 year! We are reviewing concepts of rhythm, and sound production. Breathing is a skill that wind players develop and learn to control in different ways for playing their instrument. Percussionists can focus on their hand position and alternating of hands. Students should be practicing some fundamentals found on the first page of the packet received in lessons. Here you will find a link to ALL wind instrument packets. (You'll need to find your child's instrument and we are only working on page one!)
Learning an instrument develops an understanding and appreciation of the power of practice! The more effort that is applied to any task, the more success you will have with that task. This is an ongoing process that becomes easier with time and motivation. Please encourage your child to establish a practice routine and stick to it! Practice requires goal-setting (be realistic!) and focus. After practice, comes play!
Our morning practices focus on teamwork, balance/blend of instrument sounds, and playing in harmony. Weekly lessons are more geared toward instructional time on new concepts and focused practice of specific parts in our music.
