When first learning an instrument, it is important to establish proper habits in tone production, posture and hand position. In the beginning, we focus on using the correct embouchure to produce a sound on the mouthpiece (with reed and ligature attached) and barrel. Once a proper tone is established, all seven pieces come together and your fingers are properly placed over the holes; your left hand on sits on the upper joint and your right hand on the lower joint. Please be patient and use caution; never grab hold of the keys! Watch these videos for assistance and have fun! Don't forget to use your swab when you are done.
Note for video below: You do not have an inverted ligature, as the woman in the video does. The screws for your ligature will be on the same side as your reed.
